Great News!!

Our Westminster Preschool recently received accreditation by NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) Accredited Program.

This accreditation is valid for five years.  It follows about 18 months of self-study, which included surveys and questionnaires filled out by both staff and families who have children attending Westminster Preschool.  Based on the information from these surveys and questionnaires, our Preschool staff developed a plan for making any needed improvements or changes to comply more fully with the criterion of the NAEYC guidelines.  They then submitted a Program Description booklet, and a validator made an on-site visit.  Our on-site visit was on June 1, 2005.  The validator examines every aspect of our program (looks in every cupboard, interviews staff, etc.) and looks at 52 documents prepared by the director (Jo Beil) and then has an interview with the director.  All of this information, along with the Program Description and the results of all our surveys and questionnaires was given to a national commission for their review.  It is this commission that determines if a program receives accreditation or not.

Westminster is pleased and proud that our Preschool staff has successfully accomplished this accreditation process.  Carry on, Jo and folks!
