Weekday Preschool Newsletter January 2006

Holiday Parties: On Sunday, January 8th all five classes will celebrate the holiday season with a holiday program. Each group of children will sing a few songs in the sanctuary and then everyone will go to Fellowship Hall for refreshments and a time of fellowship with one another. You may invite anyone who would enjoy coming and listening to the children and being a part of our holiday party!! (siblings, grandparents, neighbors, aunts/uncles and cousins, friends, etc.) We would ask each family to bring a snack (or two depending upon size of family/friends coming) to share with everyone. The preschool program will provide the drinks.

When you arrive that day, please enter through the main east doors of the church and go up the stairs. The Fellowship Hall is at the top of the stairs, opposite the Garden Room area. You can drop off your snack there and walk on through the hall to the back (northeast) corner and go through that doorway to take your child to their classroom. They will remain in the classroom with the teachers and the teachers will bring them to the sanctuary as a group. You can go on back through the Fellowship Hall and follow the signs to the sanctuary and wait there for the children to come.

This is meant to be a fun time for the children. Please understand that if your child is timid and does not sing, (or will not even stand up in front), it is ok. We still want them to come and be a part of the party. After the children are finished singing, we will have a video playing in the Fellowship Hall. It will show your child’s class playing in the classroom, time in gym, Chapel Chat or grouptime activities, etc. We will also be videotaping the holiday program and we will add it to the classroom video. I am checking into the possibility of having copies of our videos made by a professional and then offering copies at a small cost to parents who would like a copy. I will let you know the details when they are finalized.

Field Trip: All five classes are going to visit Fire Station #6 (next door to my home!!) for our field trip. Please sign up to drive and write down how many children (with a car seat) you can take in your vehicle. The MWF and T-Th classes will be leaving right away at 9:10 am or at 12:40 pm. The M-F class will not be leaving preschool until about 10:00 am - so that there won’t be two classes at the fire station at the same time!! (This M-F class may be a few minutes late returning that day so we appreciate your patience!!) Thanks for helping us out!!

Adventure Camp Dates: There are two days in January when preschool is closed but we will have Adventure Camp available. Those dates are Monday, Jan. 16th and Tuesday, Jan. 17th. There will be a separate flier for you to fill out if you plan to have your child attend. Please be sure to fill this out and return it so we know how many children to plan for each day.

Summer Preschool and 2006-2007 Preschool Enrollment: I know it is hard to believe but we will be beginning to take enrollment for both our summer preschool programs and next year’s preschool classes in January. When you return from the holiday break (on January 4th), the brochures for next fall’s classes and our summer programs will be available to you. This is also when people in the community who have called me or stopped by for a tour are able to sign up.

There is a $35.00 registration fee which must accompany the registration form portion of the brochure in order for your space in the class to be reserved. You must register your child for next fall if you want them to attend again. NO CHILD IS AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED FOR NEXT YEAR just because they are currently attending. If your child will not be attending next year, but you have a neighbor or friend who might be interested, please pass the brochure along to them. You are our best source of positive public relations!!
