Weekday Preschool Newsletter March 2006
Roller Skating Party: On
Sunday, March 12th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm we will have a private
roller skating party at Skate Zone, at 300 N. 48th Street. The preschool
will pay to rent the entire facility so we will be the only people
there!! You are welcome to bring extended family and friends to help make
this an enjoyable time for your preschooler!!
The rink has children's skates that you can use (free of charge) or
you can bring your own skates and roller blades. You will just have to
let the staff check them out to make sure they are ok to use on their
floor. Most children's skates and roller blades are fine. If you use
their skates, they can tighten the wheels so that they do not roll so
easily and it makes it easier for your child to skate.
This is a fun, family event and we hope you can join us for the whole
two hours or at least for part of the time. They do the hokey pokey, the
limbo, the number game and other fun activities on skates!! Please mark
your calendar and plan to join us.
Sign In/Out Books: Please make sure to sign your child in
and out each day they attend preschool. If you use the drop-off system,
the teachers will sign them in and out for you. If they are in extended
care, this is extremely important as these sign in/out sheets are what the
bills are based on. If you do not sign them out, the teachers just have
to approximate when they left and you may be billed incorrectly. We
appreciate your help in this matter.
Future Important Dates: The week of April 3rd to the 8th is
the National Week fo the Young Child. On Saturday, April 8th, there will
be an Early Childhood Celebration at the State Fairgrounds with booths
full of activities for young children. The entire event is free and we
will have a booth that day. I have not received the information yet, but
I think the time is from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. We hope you can come out
and see us and participate in all the fun activities that will be there!!
Registration Update:
For the school year preschool program: our T-Th morning class is full, and
the MWF morning class has two openings left. The MTWThF class is over
half full, but the afternoon classes still have lots of openings. The
advertisements in the Lincoln Kids, Neighborhood Extra and the Free Times
are going out now, so please sign your child up now if you are planning on
having them attend next year. We have 76 children enrolled, with our
total capacity at 120 children.
Summer preschool program: We still have openings available, but if
you have planning on having your child come during the summer months,
please sign them up now. There is no enrollment fee for summer, but I
need to have an idea of how many children are coming so I can plan my
teachers accordingly. Thanks.
Summer day camp program: Each of the separate one-week sessions is
about half full. Your child can only attend one session so that we can
allow the greatest number of children to have the fun experience of the
day camp program. We only take 12 children each week with two teachers.
They go to a different park each day, have a cookout lunch, go fishing,
play on the park playground equipment, take nature hikes and read stories
and sing songs. It is a nice break from the regular preschool classes
with extended care if your child attends full-time, year-round.
Adventure Camp WEEK: During March, there is a whole week
from March 20th to March 24th when there is no preschool. If your child
is going to attend during any of these days you need to fill out the form
on the back side of this newsletter. Several of the teachers (and me!!)
will be gone out of town and we need to know exactly how many children
will be here!! Thanks!! |
