Growing In Mission!
Outreach Ministry Empties Its Pockets

The Ministry of Outreach recently voted to "liberate" money from several funds under its control. This was done on behalf of the Westminster congregation and is an example of how Westminster is "Growing In Mission."

Each year, Westminster receives four special offerings in conjunction with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Westminster retains part of the collection from the Pentecost Offering and the Peacemaking Offering.

Helping Children At Risk
This year Westminster collected approximately $1,500 from the Pentecost Offering and kept 40%, or $600, to distribute on behalf of children at risk. The Ministry of Outreach has given $200 each to Families First and Foremost, the Child Advocacy Center and C.A.S.A. of Lancaster County.

Peacemaking In Our Community
Westminster had saved $800 from the 25 percent it retained from the 2003 and 2004 Peacemaking Offerings to support peace-

making efforts in our community. The Ministry of Outreach has given $200 to F.I.R.S.T. Project (a program in Lincoln that assists immigrants and refugees who have been victims of torture), and $200 to Lutheran Family Services for the Heartland Refugee Resettlement program. The other $400 will be kept as  scholarship money to assist individuals attending the 2005 Presbyterian Peace and Justice Conference.

Supporting Retired Church
Workers and Racial and Ethic
Schools and Colleges

During December, Westminster members and friends contributed $1,820 to the Christmas Joy Offering. These funds will be forwarded to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Fifty percent goes to support of retired and active church workers and their spouses and families.  The other fifty percent supports Presbyterian related racial and ethic schools and colleges.
