Happy August!

As I write this, I’m also printing out a packing list for a trip I’m about to take.

Tomorrow I’m meeting my mother and her divine ‘ya-ya’ sisters at Newark Airport. After an embarrassingly immodest display of affection we’ll all head into The City for some much-anticipated adventure. Ah, and now it’s ready. My packing list.

This concept of a functional packing list... it has changed my life. No longer do I burn the midnight oil on the eve of a departure, frantically attempting to organize my thoughts, collect items for my suitcase, and shut down my office and home. I print out a packing list, my cheat sheet, and I’m ready to go.

Don’t laugh: this new photo directory will serve as a church packing list (have you signed up yet tohave your picture taken?). Each entry will be valuable. Each one will contribute to the whole blessed experience.

And we will practically need a packing list for the fall... there will be so much to see and hear and taste and do. Adventures of faith await! I especially hope you’ll participate in two important events:

SMALL GROUP MINISTRY: coming in September: an eight-week small group experience that will re-ignite your faith. The study we’ve selected is "Serving from the Heart," and it will help us to discover our gifts, talents and passions. And then it will help us, as a church, to map out ways of using our gifts, talents and passions for the glory of God. I pray that 200 of us (and some of our friends) will commit to this life-changing, eight-week experience. It will bring your faith to life! Sign-up starts later this month in the Garden Room.

STORIES OF HOME PROJECT: You are about to see one hundred homes floating around our church home. No, they aren’t fish, but the concept is similar... only this time you’ll get to keep your own artwork. You can add a home to your home. We all have stories of home to share; the mere fact that each of us has a home (thanks be to God) is something to celebrate. If you missed the chance to decorate a fish - here is your chance to decorate a home. More than that, you will be hearing about some delicious "Tastes of Home" opportunities, and others as Westminster partners with the Lincoln Arts Council’s "Stories of Home" art project.

It’s almost time to catch that plane. Autumn will be a spectacular season at Westminster.

Won’t you join us?

Blessings,

Pastor Sara
