THOSE WHO HOPE IN THE LORD WILL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH.
THEY WILL SOAR ON WINGS LIKE EAGLES; THEY WILL RUN AND NOT GROW WEARY, THEY WILL WALK AND NOT BE FAINT.
ISAIAH 40:31

Mission Corner: A Month of Building

You just never know what tomorrow will bring…and whether it will appear as a blessing or as a curse. For example, the same time one crew of volunteers was finishing Westminster's second Habitat for Humanity house in Lincoln, another crew of Westminster volunteers was mobilizing for action in Greensburg KS. Finally, the very same weekend a third crew of Westminster volunteers was caught working on its own sneaky volunteer project for women who are "rebuilding" their lives. Throughout Westminster, people's spirits are growing in mission! Mission can be big or small. Mission is truly for all ages. Won't you join us as we continue to grow in mission?

Disaster Relief
Eleven months after the Hallam tornado, and during Westminster's centennial year, we purchased and planted 100 trees! After that moving event, we asked ourselves, "Whendisaster strikes, what can we as a church do more immediately for people in need?" The tragic tornado in Greensburg revealed the answer:
form a Westminster Disaster ResponseTeam. Westminster was one of the first volunteer groups in the nation to be allowed into the city of Greensburg mere days after the tornado struck. Twelve adults (mainly retired) mobilized and then caravanned down to KS to provide disaster relief work. Our vehicles were literally loaded down with many donations from Westminster members and friends.

Second Habitat House
Westminster's Fish Tales Art Project was a wonderful way of combining mission and the arts during our centennial year. Did you know that Lancaster County is still benefitting from our outlandish "catch" at the Fish Tales auction? For two years in a row now Westminster has teamed both with Habitat for Humanity, as well as other local churches, to provide one lucky family with decent, affordable housing. Our second house was dedicated May 20, 2007. What a joyful experience!
