 What's that Stuff
 on the Plate?

Have you noticed? Are you curious? Since July's communion, have you noticed the paper cup with crackers on the Communion Bread Plate? What's THAT all about. We realized we were leaving some folks out of communion because of their health issues. So that everyone wanting to take communion can participate, we added a little paper cup with rice crackers for our friends in the congregation with wheat/corn allergies and/or gluten intolerance issues. These crackers are made without gluten, wheat or corn products. We started out with crackers that did have nuts and have now gone to a rice cracker that should be suitable for more people who can not take the communion bread. Also, for those with diabetes, the juice used for communion is made with all natural juices with no sugar added. If we still have not resolved your inabilty to participate in communion due to dietary restrictions, please let the church office know who you are so we may discuss with you how Westminister can accomodate you to receive communion.

The Garden Fair

The Garden Fair continues through September 23. All the proceeds go to missions. Here's one new small group twist. The Howard/Odvody Sunday evening  small group planted a Victory Garden and the items from that (which this season have been substantial) will be used for phone cards for Nebraska troops in
Iraq and Afghanistan. Another reason to patronize the Garden Fair table!

Sample organic milk from nearby Legacy Dairy. Taste fresh, locally-grown food. Get your tires checked and if needed filled with air (free-of-charge) in the parking lot. Most important: sign the Westminster covenant pledging to do TEN SIMPLE THINGS TO SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT! Lists and covenants will be available during the Eco-Fair. We'll ask you to sign one and place the bottom portion in the offering plate during the 10:30 worship  service. This can be done individually or as a family.

Westminster has a goal of finding 100 people in our congregation who will do Ten Simple Things in September to  help our planet. Then we'll ask you in October how it went and tally the results. How many trees can we save in a month? How many kilowatts of electricity? How many gallons of fuel? Find out this and more at the Eco-Fair!!
