Our Second Century Sanctuary
restoration is moving ahead at full speed. The pews are out and the
scaffolding is up to the ceiling. New electrical wires are being
installed along with enhanced lighting in the existing chandeliers.
The 30 year old sound system is being replaced. The big black box
that hung at the front of the sanctuary ceiling will be replaced
with a new, less intrusive, more effective system. It will make a
big difference for those with hearing impairments. Next will come
the fire suppression sprinklers and the decorative wood to cover the
conduit. It is a long way up to the ceiling -- over 50 feet. Keep
those workers in your thoughts and prayers.
Outside,
the parking lot has finally been completed! Westminster has a new
face as the city passes by on 27th Street. This project took over 50
years. Earl Lampshire, long ago designated the Parking Lot Chairman,
oversaw almost all of the expansion. He has written a history of the
project. It is available in the church library and in the history
room for those who would like to read about it. Adequate
parking is a tremendous resource. We are grateful for all the
generous, hardworking, and visionary people who made it happen.

Special thanks are due to the Westminster Foundation who funded
the last legs of this parking lot expansion marathon! They have
shown the wisdom of having a strong endowment.
Westminster is moving forward. We are grateful to God.
Sincerely,
