Board Members Recognized With First "Spirit of the Good
Samaritan Award"

"The Art of Healing" was the
theme for Samaritan Counseling Center's twentieth anniversary
celebration held Friday evening, May 16, at the Lincoln Station
Great Hall. The center's founding board members were recognized,
along with Clinic with a Heart and Ameritas receiving the
first-ever "Spirit of the Good Samaritan Awards."
The Samaritan Counseling Center's founding
board consisted of 24 members, 12 each from Westminster and St.
Mark's United Methodist Church. Attending the event and
representing Westminster's involvement in founding the center
were founding board members Thomas Yates and representing Betsy
Palmer was Bill Palmer.
Augie Neuhaus, Samaritan executive director commented, "these
awards will be presented annually to an individual, community
organization and business exemplifying the spirit of the Good
Samaritan by responding to the needs of others with hope,
healing and a helping hand." He also announced the center is
establishing the Silent Samaritan Fund "to help bridge the gap
for those who cannot afford the full cost of counseling
services."
