"Crossroads"

Sundays 9:00 a.m. - Library

Crossroads is a Bible study class for young adults based on three themes: Study, Community Building, and Service.

Come join us as we begin September with a discussion of the book  Transitions, which is based on the book of Exodus. We will concentrate on how we can successfully address change and the psychological elements that accompany change…much as the  Israelites had to face during their 40- ear trek through the wilderness. As we continue throughout the month, we will begin the 6 week small group study, "Stories of Faith, Hope and Love."

WOW - Adult Education Series
Beginning September 3, Adult Education Ministry will offer a 4 week series on TV and faith… watching and examining the popular series from just a couple years ago, "Joan of Arcadia." Facilitators will be Christy Dempsey, Ashley Lammers and others. All adults are welcome.

September "Love of God, Love of Country"
During the month of September we will look at love as
it pertains to God and Country. Christians have long felt a responsibility to serving both God and country, and see them as necessarily compatible. Yet, our division between church and state requires us to create a division between God and Country in our minds. Over the month, join Adult Education in an investigation of this issue and discern how our current leaders look at the role of public servants and disciples of God.

September 7th "War and Peace" - Chaplain Kevin Nauman - War is a part of the human experience; part of human civilization, yet its existence provides challenges for those who fight and those who experience loss. Come join us as we delve into the experience of war and look at how a military chaplain ministers and comforts during our most trying times.

September 14 "Starting at Home"- Mike Foley, Tony Fulton, Ray Stevens, Deb Schorr -
Please join us as we ask questions of our local public figures about service to God and Country. This panel will discuss issues from their own call to public service, to the relationship between church and state, and ultimately to their own projection on the future of local politics.

September 21 "Religion and Politics" - Dr. Jan Vermeer, Professor of Political Science at Nebraska Wesleyan University - Come explore the role of religion in American politics throughout the history of the United States. We will not only discuss American ideology and its connection with religion but also the role of religion in current day politics--including the issues surrounding the current presidential race.

September 28 "Christian Perspectives on ‘Love of God, Love of Country'"- Rev. Dr. Andrew McDonald  Please join Rev. Dr. Andrew McDonald for a look at how Christians see themselves within the socio- political  landscape. Are we called to serve both God and Country?
