In and Out of
The Bamboo Curtain

"In and Out of the Bamboo Curtain” will be the title of Dr. John D. Hayes’ address when he speaks to us at our Annual Congregational meeting Friday evening. January the 14th. Dr. Haves is a famous Presbyterian missionary who was born in China and was educated in the United States at Wooster College and Princeton University and as a Rhodes scholar attended Oxford University and then completed his study of theology at New College in Edinburgh, Scotland.
In September 1952 he was released from a Cornmunist Prison in Kweichow where he has been held for ten months. From his experiences during imprisonment he gained new insights into the philosophy and administration of the People’s Government of China as well as the transforming power of the Christian faith.  He brings to American audiences an interesting interpretation of the present revolutionary movement in China and its relation to Christianity.
It is indeed a great privilege for us to have a Christian leader of such stature address our congregation.  Let us all gather in West Hall on Friday evening promptly at 6:15 for our annual church dinner immediately after which Dr. Haves will speak before the formal meetings of our Congregation and Corporation.
