Communication of Westminster's Programs
Can You Help?
Westminster has great opportunities to get more people informed
and excited about the church's many programs and outreach to the
community. We can use the help of any members with interest or
experience in writing, marketing, advertising, public relations,
websites and other electronic communications--even if it's just
helping with a project or two. If you're interested in putting your
communications skills to work for the benefit of the church, contact
Jean or Marge in the church office, 475-6702.

OBOW --Fellowship
Hall A
Join
the congregation in preparation for our special guest
from Yale University, Dr. Nicholas
Wolterstorff. We are
reading Dr. Wolterstorff's
groundbreaking thoughts on the
philosophy of art in his book, Art
in Action, designed for the
casual philosopher. The book presents
an introduction into
how art is both a result of action
and a stimulus for action.
The question is essential for us in
understanding the role of
the arts in our spiritual
development. The book is on sale
during January in the Garden Room.
A host of experts have been
invited to help us prepare for this important event. In January
and February our adult seminars will include:
• Today - Dr. Peter
Heckman, Chair of the Religion and Philosophy Department at
Wesleyan, will discuss beauty and its relation to religion and
life.
• January 28 - Dr. Lisa
Wilkinson, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Nebraska
Wesleyan, will share ancient perspectives of art.
• February 4 - Dr. John
Richmond, UNL Director of the School of Music, will discuss
Wolterstorff's book Art in Action and its impact on the
aesthetics of art in worship.
• February 11 - Dr. Dan
Crawford, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Philosopher, will
discuss Wolterstorff philosophy of religion.
• February 18 - Dr.
Nicholas Wolterstorff, Yale University and author of Art
in Action.

2nd Annual Westminster Variety Show
Wild Family Productions announce the return of the Westminster
Variety Show on Sunday evening, March 4, 2007. We are inviting
auditions beginning immediately, and top preference will be given to
banjos, accordions and singing chickens. (In other words, the sky is
the limit, no act is too exotic to be considered). Return performers
are encouraged. Call Diana Wild now at 488-5699 to schedule your
personal audition. Westminster members are reminded to mark your
calendars now, you won't want to miss this.
MESSAGE TO ALL PARENTS
Three large Lincoln churches have had incidents involving an
adult male who attempts to entice a child into an unoccupied room in
the church during worship. As far as we know, this man has not been
present at Westminster. However, we are a large church with many
hallways and rooms. Please make sure that your children and youth do
not wander in the building during worship. If they are with a class,
they need to stay with that class at all times. Rooms not in use
will be locked during worship. Two adults will be assigned to walk
the building during worship. If you observe any suspicious activity,
please report it to one of the ushers immediately. The Session and
staff are dedicated to ensuring the personal safety of everyone who
enters our building.
