New Member Class

The next New Member Class (Journeying Together) will meet February 25th, March 4th, 11th and 18th, with the class joining March 18th.

Sign Up for a Small Dinner Group!
Westminster's newest interest group involves FOOD, FUN & FELLOWSHIP. During the second week in February, these small dinner groups will meet at a time agreeable to all group members for dinner - either in the home of the host or at a restaurant. If in a home, the dinner may be catered, potluck, or planned by the host. You may sign up in the Garden Room today.

Organ Recital by Karel Paukert
February 4 (Sunday) 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary
Please come and enjoy a performance by a world renowned organist, Karel Paukert. Mr. Paukert is a native of the Czech Republic and currently a curator Emeritus of Musical Arts at the Cleveland Museum of Art. He is also the organist and choirmaster at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights. His program encompasses a wide variety of styles from different countries and periods, including selections of music from Prague and Cleveland.

This concert is free to all in the Westminster community. Tickets will be available at the receptionist desk or call Masako (475-6702x111).

Reunion Choir
February 18 at 10:30 a.m. Worship
It's time to sing together! We have celebrated our church's birthday with a reunion choir for the last two years. Let the tradition continue during 10:30 worship February 18th! This choir requires no steps and no special skills. We will rehearse 2 Sundays (February 4 and 11) right after the 10:30am service for about 20 minutes in the sanctuary. The final rehearsal will be at 10 a.m. February 18th in the sanctuary so that you can also participate in Dr. Nicholas Wolterstorff's class.

WESTMINSTER CLUB
Westminster Club is in for a very interesting evening on January 30th. June Pederson, Director of the Lincoln Area on Aging, will present the program "Aging Is Mandatory. Growing is Optional."

OBOW - Fellowship Hall A & B
        Join the congregation in preparation for our special guest
         from Yale University, Dr. Nicholas Wolterstorff. We are
         reading Dr. Wolterstorff's groundbreaking thoughts on the
         philosophy of art in his book, Art in Action, designed for the
         casual philosopher. The book presents an introduction into
         how art is both a result of action and a stimulus for action.
         The question is essential for us in understanding the role of
          the arts in our spiritual development. The book is on sale
          today in the Garden Room.

          A host of experts have been invited to help us prepare for
          this important event. The upcoming adult seminars will
          include:

       Today - Dr. Lisa Wilkinson, Assistant Professor 
          of Philosophy at Nebraska Wesleyan, will share
          ancient perspectives of art.

       February 4 - Dr. John Richmond, UNL Director
          of the School of Music, will discuss Wolterstorff's
          book Art in Action and its impact
on the aesthetics
          of art in worship.

       February 11 - Dr. Dan Crawford, University of
          Nebraska-Lincoln Philosopher, will discuss
          Wolterstorff philosophy of religion.

       February 18 - Dr. Nicholas Wolterstorff, Yale
          University and author of Art in Action.

Westminster Bible Class
9:00 a.m. Sundays -Parlor

         Westminster Bible Class goes beyond a Bible
         interpretation lecture. It is a time for comments, discussion,
         questions and perhaps answers as we follow the Bible
         Study series call THE PRESENT WORD. We welcome
         visitors and new members. Today, Ken Govaerts will lead
         the study. Next week Rev. Sara Dingman will lead as we
         continue the study on the Gospel of John.

"CROSSROADS"

         This outstanding group of 18-30 year old young adults
         welcome others to join them on Sunday mornings for great
         discussions, in-depth Bible study, and Christian fellowship!

         Dr. Gene Armstrong is currently leading a discussion on
         two of Lee Strobel's thought provoking books, A Case for
         Christ
and A Case for Faith.

Each Tuesday morning a group of Westminster guys gather in the Parlor for a Continental breakfast (only $2 and FREE for first timers) at 6:45 a.m. and a program at 7:00. We dismiss by 8:00. This Tuesday the program will be presented by Gregg Nicklas, CEO Christian Heritage Children's Home. Come try us out. All men, any age are welcome!

School's Out! Noah's Ark
Monday, February 19, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Bring your lunch and join us for fun and learning as we set sail on Noah's Ark! Games, stories, videos, art and more! This one day vacation church school is for anyone Kindergarten-5th grade. Registration forms are available in the information shelves at the top of the east stairs. Bring your friends and neighbors too!

Poster Day!
February 25, During 10:30 Worship
We'll have a special creative day at Sunday school on February 25th. Westminster children are being asked to come and make a poster to kick off the 2nd Century campaign. Posters will be displayed in the Garden Room. So put on your creative cap and bring your ideas to church on February 25th!

2nd Annual Westminster Variety Show
Wild Family Productions announce the return of the Westminster Variety Show on Sunday evening, March 4, 2007. We are inviting auditions beginning immediately, and top preference will be given to banjos, accordions and singing chickens. (In other words, the sky is the limit, no act is too exotic to be considered). Return performers are encouraged. Call Diana Wild now at 488-5699 to schedule your personal audition.
