May 13: Rev. Sara Dingman "Caring for the Care-giver"
Have you ever been
caught off guard by the illness of a
parent, spouse, child or
friend? Over the long haul it can be
easy for care-givers to
experience mixed emotions:
feelings of sacrificial
love and compassion can co-exist
with feelings of
frustration and despair. Grace and hope
can feel close and then
far away. In this workshop we'll
look at a variety of
options and resources available for
people who care for
others. All are welcome.
May 20: Blake Waggoner "One Community, One Africa"
Blake Waggoner
offers a look at how we, as a Christian
community, can provide
healing to victims of AIDS and
warfare in Africa. This
presentation is based on his junior
thesis that deals with
the HIV crisis and the conflict in
Darfur.
May 27: Dr. Kathryn Govaerts and Judy McAllister "How
the Family Heals:
A Workshop." Kathryn and Judy have
both spent years in private

look broadly at how they
can approach healing in their
own families.

Memorial Day Weekend: A
Time to Remember
May is the month of Memorial Day. This is the
time of year when our thoughts go to both those who served in the
military in duty and sacrificed for their country, as well as to
family and friends who are no longer with us. We are grateful to God
for the gift of their lives.
We have found it can be very meaningful to
remember these friends and loved ones with a gift that expresses our
gratitude to God for their lives. You may do so through a gift to
one of the Westminster Endowment Funds:
Mission Endowment: Aid for the needy;
development of new mission activities and projects.
Education Endowment: Support high quality Christian Education
activities.
Facilities Endowment: Support the maintenance of Westminster's
physical facilities.
Music & Worship Endowment: Enrich the spiritual life of the
church by supporting dynamic music activities.
Special Ministries Endowment: Support leadership training and
ministries beyond current budget abilities.
General Purpose Endowment: Flexible endowment to meet new and
unique opportunities available to the congregation.
Recognition will be made in worship on May 27. In
order to allow time to prepare, please send the following
information with your gift of any amount payable to the Westminster
Foundation by May 23 to Westminster Presbyterian Church,
2110 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln, NE 68502.
