Adult
Education
9:00 a.m. Sunday Mornings
Serving One; Serving Many
Do our mission projects really make an impact? Do we ameliorate the
needs of only a few individuals or does our work have broader impact
in the communities we serve? In July, the adult education seminars
will take a brief look at Westminster's mission projects and those
of Homestead Presbytery. Each of the seminars will include a brief
history, the status of the mission projects and the goals for the
future.
Today: Lohmen in the 1st Person
Learn how and why you and every Westminsterite
benefits from our 20-year mission partnership with a
tiny
village in Germany.
July 15: The Broad Impact of Homestead Presbytery
Please welcome Barbara Hipple, the Mission and
Outreach Coordinator for Homestead Presbytery, who
will
share an overview of the Presbytery's mission
projects including our partnership with Presbyterians in
Olmeca,
Mexico.

separate missions to stop hunger in our community?
Come

Bob McCallister, former President of
Doane
College and ordained Methodist minister, is
inviting you to participate in a two week series where you
will
look for ways to discover your personal theology. This
seminar
will help you more clearly define your
understanding of God and how God works in your daily
life.
Topics will include how we talk about God from
tradition to reason, and where we begin understanding
our
relationship to God.

Coming in September...
Westminster will begin a new churchwide small group experience based
on Rabbi Harold Kushner's bestseller "Living a Life That
Matters." For eight weeks small groups will draw on Kushner's
stories, on current events, and above all on the biblical story of
Jacob -- the worldy trickster who evolves into a man of God -- and
address some of the most persistent dilemmas of the human condition.
Registration will begin Sunday, August 26. Small groups will
start meeting the week of Sunday, September 9. At this time Small
Group Ministry is recruiting small group leaders. Could God be
calling you to shepherd a small group? We will offer special
training sessions for small group leaders on Sunday mornings in
July. Please see Kathy Collins or Pastor Sara if you would like to
get involved early!
Thank you for being faithful
to Westminster's
Second Century Campaign. |
