In conjunction with our Eco-Fair , Adult Education is proud to present a series of seminars from experts in energy sources and planet conservation.

Today - Ecology Fair - no seminar. Come to Fellowship
           Hall and learn simple ways to enjoy the bounty of the earth
           and how to protect its beauty. Many earth-friendly
           organizations are in Fellowship Hall today to share their
           ideas and methods of ecology.

Sept. 16 - Dr. Jerry Hudgins, Chair of Electrical Engineering at
           the University of Nebraska will present "Sustainable
           Energy and Realistic Constraints" in which he will look
           at the future of renewable energy sources.

Sept. 23 - Marian Langan, Director of the Spring Creek
           Audubon Center will present "Nebraska's Tallgrass
           Prairie: History or Legacy?" where she will discuss the
           role of the prairie in Nebraska's history as well as the
           challenges to the future of the grasslands.

Sept. 30 - Dr. John Janovy - Varner Professor of Biological
           Sciences and author of Ten Minute Ecologist, will discuss
           his work.

Westminster Bible Class - 9:00 a.m.-Sundays -Parlor
          Westminster Bible Class follows the weekly Bible Study
          series, THE PRESENT WORD. We welcome visitors and
          new members. Leading the study today is Bill Palmer.

"CROSSROADS"
Sundays - 9:00 a.m. - Library

       
          These young adults (18-30's) invite you to join them every
          Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the library for Bible study,
          great discussions, and Christian fellowship!

          Today, "Crossroads" is beginning the 8 week study of the
          book, "Living A Life That Matters," by Harold S. Kushner.
          This promises to be an excellent study and the book is
          available for purchase. We encourage you to sign up in the
          Garden room and become part of "Crossroads
!"


ATTENTION MOMS and DADS:
Ever feel like you are alone in this never-ending journey of parenthood? Wondering if anyone else deals with the same issues you do? If so, we NEED YOU this Wednesday, Sept. 12th, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. to participate in conversations on parenting issues! Gene and Bess Armstrong, will lead us through this insightful journey.

Educating Parents on Sex Education
Come join Dr. Marybell Avery, a Curriculum Specialist for Lincoln Public Schools as she guides us through the sex education policies of the school district. The class will meet at 6:30 p.m., September 19th and 26th in Fellowship Hall A.
   
  In keeping with the Campaign's commitment to use the funds raised for payment of existing debt, we have paid $150,000 on our debt and almost have our next $50,000 payment.  Your continued response to our Second Century Campaign is truly appreciated.

October Newsletter Deadline
It's time to submit your articles for the October newsletter, The Second Century Messenger. Please email your articles to jean@westminsterlincoln.org no later than Monday, September 17th.
Lunch Bunch
The Lunch Bunch will visit Beacon Hill Restaurant on North 27th Street Tuesday, September 11th at 12:30 p.m. Lunch Bunch offers a time of food and conversation and is open to everyone. Rides are available for shut-in's and a car pool will leave the church at noon. Call the church office, 475-6702, or Jeanne Giles, 484-6651, if you need a ride.
 

Prime Time
Prime Time, a potluck social group will start their fall meetings on Friday, September 14th at 6:30 p.m. in Cole Hall. Beth Hamilton will present the program, "What is Your Ecological Footprint." Michael and Freda Gregg and Dave and Linda Miller are hosts and hostesses for this kickoff meeting. Please bring a favorite dish to share. Drinks and table service will be provided.

 

Men's Tuesday Fellowship Breakfasts
All men are invited for a Continental breakfast each Tuesday morning at 6:45 in the Parlor. A program follows at 7:00. We dismiss by 8:00. This Tuesday, the program"What About the Holy Spirit?" will be presented by Keith Ghormley, Youth Pastor, Zion Presbyterian Church.

KNIT TOGETHER
You are invited to join Knit Together, a small group at Westminster. We meet Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., after WOW dinner. We make mission projects, share faith experiences and knit our own projects (or other hand work). All ages and experience levels are welcome. Come learn with us. Rev. Dr. Jack Rogers
Will Bring His Powerful Message
of Inclusivity to Lincoln

Jack Rogers, Moderator of the 213th General Assembly of the PC(USA) and professor of theology emeritus at San Francisco Theological Seminary, is the author of a new book, Jesus, The Bible and Homosexuality: Explode the Myths, Heal the Church.  After intense study, prayer and reflection, Dr. Rogers has made a complete about-face in his convictions regarding homosexuality.

Dr. Rogers has an important message to share, and he's bringing it to Lincoln this fall. As part of his Midwest Book Tour, Dr. Rogers will speak at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Friday, September 28th. The dinner and program will begin at 5:45 p.m. (Appetizers) (Dinner at 6:30 p.m.) and book sales/signing will continue at the conclusion of the program. The public is invited to attend. Charge for the dinner is $20.00.
