Prayer
Prayers for
Westminster's mission trip
participants who are in Lohmen, Germany.
Welcome
We welcome today our guest cellist, Dr. Karen
Becker, professor of cello at UNL. She is an active soloist and avid
chamber player, having performed throughout the United States as
well as in Europe, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Dr. Becker is also a
conductor and educator, serving the community as director of the
Lincoln's Junior Youth Orchestra.
TONIGHT - Middle School and Senior High
will go to the Haunted Forest at Valparaiso. Meet at the church at
6:00 p.m. and return by 8:00 p.m. Cost: $7 (maybe less depending on
how many attend). Storytelling and fire pit; sloppy joes, chips, pop
and s'mores (can be purchased individually; total not costing more
than $4). Adult drivers needed.
The
"Pearlington in 2008" Planning Team will meet Sunday,
November 18, at Braeda on 33rd and Pioneers, just after
the 10:30 worship service/congregational meeting. Everyone is
welcome, first-timers especially! Don't forget to bring your 2008
calendar. (If you can't attend but are interested, please see Pastor
Sara.)
Food Drive - November
4th
If you didn't take home a grocery sack last Sunday, the packers will
be handing them out at the east and west doors following worship
today. There will be items listed on the sacks that the Food Pantry
provides. Please fill those sacks with the items listed and bring
them to the Food Pantry, which is located by Cole Hall, on November
4th. If you are unable to bring your sack November 4th,
please feel free to place it in the large box by the east entrance.
Westminster provides a wonderful service by providing food to the
People's City Mission. We hope you will help us in this wonderful
project. Thank you!
GREAT OPPORTUNITY
The Food Pantry needs one or two people who
could pack food boxes for the People's City Mission. This job takes
about 1 hour every 3 months. It is an easy way to help our Food
Pantry and to help feed the hungry in Lincoln. If you are
interested, please call Mary Metzger, 488-8208 or Nora Hinrichs,
423-2730.

Holocaust and turn into a political torturer?
Prophetic Voices -
Fellowship Hall A
This seminar during November will look at prophecy in
biblical times and
look at modern day issues that share a
prophetic voice
with the past. Speakers will include Don
Nelson and
Rev. Dr. Andrew McDonald.

SIMPLY WAIT
Cultivating Stillness in the Season of Advent
During Advent do you find yourself trying to
cram some semblance of anticipation and waiting into the season with
an eye on the clock? Do you spend Advent out of breath from details
of a Christmas that hasn't yet taken place? You know you need to
focus on the spiritual aspects of Advent to internalize the
experience of the season. Good intentions sometimes only intensify
your stress -- especially when the must-have toy is sold out
everywhere and when even a quick grocery trip involves ru sh
hour-like traffic snarls. What if it really wasn't that hard to find
more peace, more quiet, more room in your heart for the Christ child
to be born? Join one of the small groups meeting during Advent or
use the book individually at home, and you'll come out of the four
weeks centered, rested and spiritually renewed. Contact Kathy
Collins or Ellen Davis for more information. Books will be available
in the Garden Room beginning Sunday, November 4 for $10 each. Make
your Advent Journey one of anticipation and renewal.

Hooray! We have paid an additional
$50,000, which brings the total to
$250,000 that has been paid on the
$350,000 loan. |
Help Children Stay Warm!

for kindergarten through 5th grade students, please bring

a.m. on November 18th. No steps are required. Please
