member class, please mark the ritual of friendship pad
during worship, speak to Dr. McDonald or Rev. Dingman, or

Taizé Worship Tonight
Tonight should be just about right for a warm-up. You are welcome to
warm your spirit at Taizé worship in the chapel at 7:30 pm.
Many say Taizé is a worship form that helps them center their
life in God in a musical, meditative, quiet, prayerful setting.
Candles and scripture round out the 45 minute service.
Nancy Stuckey and Dal Ronnau will read the scriptures: Psalm 63,
Mark 6: 32-44, and Acts 2:42-47. The musicians will be Darin
Anderson-cantor, David Anderson-French horn, Meera Bhardwaj-oboe,
Preston Bradley-violin, Jon Jackson-bass guitar, and Boyd
Bacon-keyboard.
Have you ever tried changing some behavior as a way of increasing
your awareness during the 40 days of Lent? This year you can do that
with a lot of support as we make a church-wide effort to "give up or
take up" changes that improve our care of God's creation. Maybe you
would "give up" using styrofoam products or "take up" recycling
plastic bottles. Or make a point of learning more about climate
change. Start thinking now about what you will do, and be ready to
join forces with your Westminster friends when Lent begins on
February 6.

 SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY
On Sunday, February 3, 140 million Americans will
watch the Super Bowl. At the same time, there will be people
worrying about staying warm, finding shelter and a warm meal.
Westminster youth will hold soup pots at church doors on "Souper
Bowl Sunday", joining young people in churches across the country to
collect money for those who are hungry and hurting. In 2007, over
14,500 groups participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring generating
over $8 million. All of the money collected by Westminster youth
will be donated to the Gathering Place and Matt Talbot Kitchen.
Since the Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990, more than $41 million
has gone to help people in need. Please support the youth of
Westminster in this effort to "love our neighbors" by dropping your
donation in the soup pot on February 3.
Youth Group Tonight - R.A.K. Night!
Tonight marks the long-awaited return of R.A.K.
Night! Please join us at 6:30 pm (note the later start time) for
some light snacks. We'll be done at 8:00 pm. All youth are invited
and encouraged to attend!
So, what does R.A.K. Night mean?
Random Acts of Kindness Night, of course! We will divide up into a
middle school group and a high school group and brainstorm "random
acts of kindness" that we could do to assist/cheer up/help out
someone/some group in need. We will have to agree on what R.A.K.(s)
we want to complete -- and complete the act(s) before youth group is
over!
Questions? See a Youth Advisor -- Sarah Boehler,
Rob Baltensperger, Dane Patterson, Maggie Stuckey or Pastor Andy.
Or, you can email Maggie at
magjostu@gmail.com.
Come ready to spread some kindness!
